Allowing themes to be mixed/matched in thousands of potential combinations. These 5 combined will make a dramatic change to the entire look of the landscape in-game. Custom Tree Controller, changes the trees used by the God Mode Brush. Rock Mod, alters the look of rocky areas/hills/mountains. Beach Mod, changes the textures used for beaches. Water Mod, changes the look of the sea. Terrain Mod, alters the look of the ground/grass in-game.

However, the biggest single change you can make is to install one of each of the following mod types:

For the bigger mods like IRM, SPAM and CAM, I'd do some research into them (Google is your friend) and see if they really fit with your play style. Long and short, if you don't intend to mod anything and don't want to be limited to the buildings that come with SC4, you may want to give it a miss.įrankly I'd take it slow and start with the NAM, maybe RTMT if that grabs you too. It adds new growth stages to the game, but you need to ensure all your installed content supports it. But it's not for everyone.ĬAM really isn't for everyone. SPAM does for Farms what I-RM does for Industry. I-RM fixes that, breathing a new sense of life into the Industrial side of the game. Look at the sad Industrial Lots that come with the game, devoid of any real detail and looking very repetitive. I-RM (Industrial Revolution Mod) is a favourite of mine. A great space-saver, but also means you can keep gridded blocks from being messed whilst retaining transport for the buildings in them. RTMT (Road Top Mass Transit) is a mod that allows placement of Bus and Subway stops directly on the Roads/Streets in-game.

This fixes the very broken traffic simulator and gives you the option to add a ton of new networks and pieces to use for transit networks. A number of other "Maxis Fixes" which resolve bugs left in the game.Īfter that, the #1 mod is probably the NAM (Network Addon Mod). (Caution - Requires special install method to work, see link) The I-HT fix, which fixes a bug left in the game, allowing I-HT to provide R$$$ jobs. In short, listing all the big mods like this doesn't really help, I suspect if you are starting out, you need the basics first: SimFox's Day and Night mod requires that buildings are made/rendered specially to work with that. CAM requires special lots that are designed to work with it. SPAM (SimPeg Agricultural Mod) & CAM (Colossus Addon Mod) simply don't work together. There are simply too many mods to list and not all of them are for everyone, for example: The real answer isn't us listing out favourites, it's you deciding which you like. I might pick this back up again but I haven't played in a long time and wanted to share what I had.You know, this is like asking us to list all the chocolates you should have in a box of them. I got up to over 145,000 regionally and 130,000 in main city and almost half way complete. I even had a 4th column that was going to added as well. So the first 3 in one column would be $, the second column would be $$ and the third would be for $$$. My goal was to increase the levels of zones from one side to the other until it was high density. Included are the various overlays on the main city. As you go through the pictures there is little details & stories.Īfter this I started another city to migrate lower industry. I wanted to break up the grid look for the suburbs yet I tried to follow the same logic for placement and I had to individual set each house as historic to stop their growth for that suburban feel. I know there was the issue of having cities in a region causing loop of traffic so I did my best to avoid or balance as I built. I also created a smaller suburban town next to it.

I didn't want to get a lot of mods however I got the essentials. These are used to surround the 9 districts like a highway. Next got a bunch of great mods at the time and I loved & needed the sixlane roads just like Dwyrin used on his let's plays videos. I started here and the orange is city service buildings like library I went through every one and came up with a design layout to maximize everything. I didn't want a basic grid so I did testing to see how far each service building would reach just like everyone starts to know 7 spaces for water before plopping down another line. I didn't get to finish my perfect city and region but I was on my way.
